(CNN Spanish) — An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 hit the border region of Peru and Ecuador on Tuesday night, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake had a depth of 42.7 km, reported the USGS.
The epicenter was located 30.6 kilometers west-northwest of Papayal, Tumbes, Peru and 63.2 kilometers east-southeast of Macará, Loja, Ecuador.
